Blade 08, should i be scared?

Hey guys, i have been collecting knives for years and have recently gotten into the INFI craze. I have only a meager collection consisting of a BATAC and a Mud Razor but have been lurking in the Busse forum for months now. I check the exchange daily(where i bought my Razor from Greg aka TheBusseCollector) and i usually search ebay once a day as well. My desire to obtain more INFI is growing at a frightening rate and i hope to soon submit my case for induction into HOGdom. Anyways, i am planning to attend the Blade 08 show and was wondering: aside from getting a chance to meet the Busse crew and some of you fellow collectors, what should i expect on the opening day? i am going to have to learn to teleport in order to score some INFI? or, do i need a Busse Table Locating Device and running shoes in order to survive the HOG stampede? ;) This will be my first Blade show and i am already getting excited about it and am wondering if i will need a Xanax and a brown paper bag in order to survive the sensory overload of glistening(and coated) :) steel. Anyways, i was just bored and figured i might see what kind of experiences my fellow forumites have had at the biggest knife show in the world.

Some of the more creative HOGs have employed people in wheelchairs and demolitions experts to serve as distractions. Almost all HOGs have become adept at rapelling, as the Cobb Galleria's ceiling serves as a point of departure for many of them inbound to the Busse booth. Some HOGs, just for kicks, go to the most densely packed bars, MOSH pits, etc. and practice their elbowing and crowd clearing skills.

My advice? Wear full body protection, and get yourself a mouthpiece and some good head padding.

A wad o cash or a new credit card with a big limit would help quite a bit.

If you plan on going, here are a few things:

1) Don't screw with the Alien guy. :D
2) Don't get in his way.
3) Bring Cash
4) Practice standing in one place for hours
5) Don't plan on sleeping
6) Bring a camera
7) Don't make plans
8) Pit is a must
9) Bring boos and cigars

And stay at the Waverly Hotel... period.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I especially like the first one from Guyon:D and, as of about 30 minutes ago i made reservations at the Waverly for the weekend of the show due to KnifeAddictAK's input. ....simply can't wait......:)

Would the Waverley be were everyone else is staying? And are there openings left? Also is it the one at 2450 Galleria Pky Se, Atlanta, GA 30339? Hahaha

Mostly good advice ... except for the part where they're trying to convince you to stay out of their way. ;)

Except for KAAK. That guy is scary. Alien scary. Way too scary for me.

But you should really be afraid of the Lady HOGs. The Male HOGs will just trample you. The Ladies ... well, I can't really describe it on a family-friendly Forum. Just BEWARE!!:eek::p

Yes Barra, 2450 Galleria Pkwy would be the one. The number is 1-888-391-8724. Based on my recent reservation, i would imagine they still have quite a few openings but i certainly wouldnt wait. Hell, 5 months ahead of time might seem a little over the top, but i want to get a good seat for my first Blade.

Doh, sorry Barrabas...i just realized that you were joking, - it seems you are already well informed....its been a long day..

'07's Blade was mainly done around "The Pit" which is centered at the bottom of the Waverly hotel. It makes it easier to drag yourself to bed since we we're all hanging around the fountain most the time. That and you don't have to go far to get to the show.

Yes, you should be scared. Scared you'll spend too much money. :) Oh yeah watch out for the guy on the right, he means business. Disregard the guy on the left, he's nobody.

Hey, OP..... I resemble that remark!

Now that I am (for the most part) WELL.... I definitely plan on Bringing It at the trough in '08!! Gee, I might need to go back to work to raise some INFI funds!

Excellent! Mrs. OP and I MUST be there.

[Bowing in the direction of Mrs. Knife Wife '07. :D]

I was a wee piglet at Blade '07, and I still managed to score what I wanted. It was crazy, but it was fun. Expect Blade '08 to be even more crazy!

I think that the real fear is that HOG powers will somehow put a sash and a crown on you and subject your inner-most Hugh Grant fandom to public scrutiny.
