I will be attending the Blade show in Atlanta this week. If you had about $150-200 what would you look for? I of course am going to handle a great deal of production knives but are there any custom knives I should be looking for in this price range that I cannot just pick up the phone and have in a week? I like 4-5 inch blade slicers for bushcraft and hunting, preferrably with at least a small guard of some type. (Nobody say Busse family as I am sure I will spend money at their table I am looking for info on something different.) I just wondered what you all thought. Pictures would be great.

Be sure to visit David Manley's table. For 200 you can probably walk with three customs off of him, and they're gorgeous too.

I'd look for anything in tool steel like O1 or A2 with canvas Micarta or a rugged hardwood handle. Any maker, any size, those are just the things that always appeal to me :)

........Hot Babes, with any interest whatsoever in blade steel specs.

Ontario RAT knives are great and $ right, the come in 1095 & D2 steel and are probably the knife you've been looking for, I own the RAT-3 and wondered how I got along with out this handy little booger ; just my 2cents !

Beside the obvious trips to the Busse/Swamp Rat/ScrapYard tables, I'd check out the Ranger Knives' table, because Justin apparently has custom versions of the RD series, including an RD 4, that don't appear on the website.

Great ideas guys. While I will look at TOPS and Ontario Rat they are something I can get when I get home so I probably won't buy at Blade unless they have special handles or something. Keep them coming!

Kellam Knives is a good one to look at for Bushcraft and your price range.

See you there.:D

All I can say is your head will be spinning. :D It's a knife overload. Stop by Dan Koster's table. He may have something you'd like.

I am planning on heading down there as well. Thanks for posting this question, since I live 3 miles from there, and didn't even know it was in town (I know, shame on me). Do the manufacturers/makers usually have pretty good prices on their stuff? I am looking for a 4-6" fixed blade, and would like to pick up a nice one while I'm there.
