Blade Basics

I'm new to knives, and could use some help with the different types of Cold Steel blades, as I am planning to get one. First of all, what are the differences between Clip, Tanto, and Spear points, and are there any different uses that are specific to a certain type? Also what are the different uses for the plain blades versus the half-serrated? Thank you for the help!

Look up blade shapes on Wikipedia it gives a decent explanation on blade shapes and welcome to bf
