Anyone ever use damascas by Koval knives? Is it any good? I want to make a traditional tanto does anyone have a drawing with the outline of the blades shape? Oh yeah how do I do this, shape it heat treat it, sharpen it etc.... :)

OK so does anyone know who makes a traditional tanto blade finished or blank for a reasonable price?

I checked in my knife supply catalogs and didn't see any finished blade blanks in the tanto configuration. Using damascus can be quite costly. You may want to do a search on other knife supply sites.

Its not carved in stone that it has to be damascus. So if you know of anyone that sells the blanks or already ground and sharpened blades. Please send me the names or web sights. :D

Koval sells Thunderforged damascus and a lot of other mosaic damascus, but I don't know who makes it for them. I do know that most of the preground damascus blades that Koval sells are made by Chuck Hawes. Good stuff, and will already be heat treated when you get them.

Go to www.texasknife.com , go to their online catalog and go to stainless blades page 3. They have that knife available, and bolsters you can fit to it. Thats the only tanto kit I can find right now. Have fun :D
