Blade centering on Les George VECP

I recently acquired a VECP and love it. But one thing I noticed is that the blade is not centered unless I really tighten up the pivot screw to the point of it being very difficult to open the knife. The knife was brand new and I've only had it for a few days. Has anyone else noticed this? Do I just need to keep it pretty tight until it breaks in more? Are there any tricks anyone knows to fix the centering?

Thanks for your help

Email Les and ask him yourself. That would be your best bet considering there really arent too many VECP owners (compared to other knifes). I have one but havent ever tinkered with it because everything is great.

Les is "there for you" if you own one of his knives - give him a shout ;) They are typically flawless in function and the smoothest knives I have ever operated. Mine is perfect in every possible way.

Thanks for the replies. I emailed Les and he got back to me in 10 mins with instructions on how to fix it!!! Freaken awesome customer service! Here's the instructions incase anyone else is interested:

From Les:
1. Open blade to 90 degrees and tighten pivot so that it is really tight.

2. Close the blade and loosen frame screws so they aren’t tight, but still holding the frame together.

3. While the blade is still in the closed position, pull blade towards the side you want the blade to move. In my case, I pulled the blade toward the liner/scale.

4. While pulling blade, tighten the frame screws.

5. Loosen the pivot and adjust it to the desired tension.

As always be careful that you dont get cut, worst cut for me to date was doing this on a knife I has finishing up....

So did this work for you? Mine is also slightly off center and I would like to fix it. do I need to hold the blade centered while I tighten the two frame screws.? Thanks
