Blade chip covered under BM warranty?

I have the following BM 585. I was using it to ream a hole in trim piece on my truck. I chipped the edge on the blade. Would this be something covered under LifeSharp or BM Warranty? If it is I'd just as soon send it in and let the pro's handle it. If its not going covered under warranty, I'd rather try to sharpen it out myself and save blade replacement cost of $30+ shipping. So what do you all think?

They will fix it for you. Just send it in with the lifesharp form and $5 and they will send it back like new.

OK. Wasn't sure as it says broken tips aren't covered. But this isn't really a broken off tip.

Just send it in to BM. You don't have to give them $5 for return shipping though sure they would appreciate it.;) I've never had to pay for return shipping.

I had the same thing they just grind the blade down till the chip is gone and sharpen it, they do a good job but you will lose a bit of metal to keep the blade even. Decent turn around time mine was less than 2 weeks, I went through an authorized dealer to send mine in to not pay shipping and they sent the knife back to me at my house and I never paid anything for shipping or return shipping.

Yep, they will fix it. There have been some who have not been happy with the sharpening the BM did when they sent theirs back, but others have been very happy..
I guess it all depends on who works on it.
Personally if it was mine, I think I would work the edge a little and continue to use the knife, and let natural wear do some of the work for you. At least by doing that, it won't seem like you lose as much material all in one shot...

I would probably work that one out myself. I fear that benchmade might take too much steel away. Plus I have also heard some of the sharpening jobs to come out of the factory leave a lot to be desired. Just my 2 cents.

Eh, that's a burnt tip waiting to happen. Take it out yourself, but make sure to sharpen the entire blade, lest you round off your tip or flatten the belly of the blade.
