blade cleaner question

Does anyone know if a metal polish called POL would be safe to use on buck fixed blade steel?
and if not what cleaner / polish is best?

It seems that POL is now longer available. It seems to be mainly for stainless and might be a little difficult to remove completely according to the info.

I like semichrome paste or Fitz paste which can be purchased at most hardware stores. I don't think it will hurt the metal. Follow cleaning directions and coat the blade when finished with something like a mineral oil.
Just my $0.02 worth.
