I have a friend, both of us are collectors, and he just recently brought me a Circa 1940 Stag handle Case Folding Hunter. The handles and bolsters of the knife are in great shape but the blades have some rust on them. I was wondering what is the best way to remove the rust without damaging the blade?

in Levines guide there is an approved method. you may want to post on the Levine forum as they may have more info. if that doesnt work email me and ill give you the condensed version.

For me ,on just the blade I use a Dremel and a corse sponge. It will dull the sheen on the blade . Then I use jewelers rouge and a polishing pad to bring back the sheen /shine . Harbor freight has the rouge for stainless and brass but I mainly use the red as a general rouge.NEVER USE WIRE WHEELS or hard rocks. This is just my PERSONAL method and it also depends on the amount and severity of the rust. Don't rush the process, it may take several times with a gentle hand to get decent to desired results.

My friend I understand you are new but look at the dates on these threads you are replying to. Another 21 year old question….

Oh and welcome to Blade Forums.
