Blade coating removal

Is there anybody that strips blades / removes coating & replaces hardware ? I’m looking to get a Civivi Praxis reconditioned and blade coating removed and then polished into mirror finish.

That will cost a lot bc mirror finish is very time consuming. Maybe instead get one of the upcoming ultem versions, swap the scales and then apply fine sandpaper and elbow grease?

You might be in for a long haul, some of the modern bade finishes are very difficult to remove. Similar to the coating on a Glock handgun, they actually become part of the metal. If it's actually coated, the job gets easier, but not easy.

The coating allows them to cover over rough surfaces. Instead of finishing it properly. So even after you strip the finish, you need a lot of elbow grease

Just a general observation, may or may not apply to your knife.

I use stripping compound to remove the coating from Beckers and Cold Steel. And my Ka-Bar Mk 1, too. I also was pretty rough on the coating on the Dawson Mercury which is a Damascus blade but had a coating that set off the pattern. It ended up coming off pretty quickly, which was just fine with me.

Good luck!
