Blade Coating

is there anything that i can pick up in a hardware store that will put a coating on the blade of a knife without a coating. I don't mean teflon since that has to be baked on but something else like a mirror polish. Any ideas?

I just read this somewhere recently but haven't tried it yet. Get some paste wax for wood floors, wax the blade, and wipe off. Supposedly, this leaves an invisible layer of protection on the blade
