i actually like blade coating. when i use a knife that has it, i actually enjoy the patina it gets over time. seeing a knife with some coating gone, or scratches, is awesome., it basically means that the knife has been used, maybe abused (cough cough my gerber paraframe 1 cough) and it held up. seeing a new blade on someone is one thing, but when someone owns a knife for like a month with no wear on it, suggests that theyre afraid to use it. i love seeing well used gear, and coatings usually supply that to me. :)

Ummm...a noncoated blade shows use too. Why I've even heard some of those noncoated blades can develop a patina, too! :)

I used to only buy coated blades, and now I buy em all. I gotta couple coated benchmade knives that have half the coating gone. I have a coated Fehrman Final Judgment. But I am getting a non coated one soon. They're darn fine blades, but not cheap!

I have numerous with and without coatings.....like both. I have two Fehrman Last Chances(one satin one coated) and a satin First STrike.....prefer the satin versus coated but wouldn't get rid of any Fehrman knives!!

I actually don't mind either. On an orange or camo handle knife I prefer a black blade. Seems to blend way better imho.
