What do those of you who coat blades do it with, opinions on whats best where to buy and all that good stuff?

Give us a little more to go on:
Coating as in -Bluing,Anodizing,electroplating,protective oil/wax ?
 
Sorry the coating like the black or green I've seen on Busse, Benchmade. I think it's a baked on kind of coating.

Take a look at some of the coatings used on guns, specifically those you can do yourself. (ie: Gun-kote, baking lacquers, Aluma-Hyde II or Teflon/Moly Gun Finish; all of which are available from Brownells).

Hmm, with the bake-on gun finishes, you have to heat the metal to 300-350 degrees or so... Wouldn't that interfere with the temper of many steels?
