Well this is half assed but works for me. I have removed the spay blade on a whole pile of Case Trappers. See this LINK > > > for one example with photos.
These knives vary from ~$40 to $100 (for the stag) and it isn't really worth it for me to rebuild the knife to where the blade is perfectly centered. I mean we use the blades off center on these two blade knives as they are so what's the difference ?
Long story short I cut off the blade near the pivot with a thin abrasive cut off wheel chucked into my Dremel hand grinder tool. Then I cut off some of the thickness of the tab that is left so that when I do finally close it once and for all it sits flush with the handle.
You can cut most of the way through the blade with a slot all the way across and then just snap off the blade or you can keep sawing with the cut off wheel until the blade falls on the floor. Doesn't make much dif except it is easier to break the cut off wheel if you take the latter approach.
I have no idea what one of the pros here will charge to do the job right so the blade is centered but I bet it is going to be more than $40.
Pro dudes . . . I would be curious to hear what it costs to do this right.
Maybe I'll get it done by you in the future.
So many knives !
So little time !
