blade discussion forum

I had one that I sold to Glockman about three thousand years ago. IIRC, it was AUS-6, but my memory falls off after two thousand years.

CRKT has downgraded the blade steel on lot of their models recently. Especially the ones with AUS-6M steel. The Crawford/Kasper model used to have 6M blade, new production is 420J2. I don't think it would be impossible at all to find a knife from the earlier runs with the better steel.

I don't know, I've got an older Pike's Peak with AUS-6 and it holds an edge quite well. I was really suprised. AUS-6 can't cost that much more than 420j2.

*side note; I've seen AUS-6A and AUS-6M. Anyone know the difference? My Pike's Peak was listed as 6M

Paul,
welcome to BFC!

Please choose a more meaningful title than "blade discussion forum" the next time you want to post a thread in the Blade Discussion Forum...if everyone named their posts the way you do, nobody could pick the topics he is interested in from the thread overview.

Thanks in advance!

CRIKT I think switched to give the lowest price range possible. I have even heard of a few spottings in Wal-Mart. When they used aus6, folks still complained. They still offer plenty of higher grade steel models, but the lower priced ones were changed to 420j2 for those who dont like spending a lot on knives and dont care about the steel.
