This is probably a rookie question but I'm a rookie when it comes to blades so I'm not ashamed to ask. Should the blade edge feel sharper on one side or would that be a sign that it is unevenly sharpened. My best guess would be that its unevenly sharpened but was just wondering if this is common.

What do you mean "Sharper on one side"? Like it's sharper near the tip then it is near the handle?

You likely have a burr and its flopped to the side that feels sharper or shaves. With your finishing stone re-work the edge with a feather light touch and alternating strokes until the sharpness is even and the burr is gone.

When inspecting the edge make sure its within 1 foot of your eyes and you break it down inch by inch, with this type of close inspection (helps if your under bright light) you will be able to see burrs and the grind lines you are putting in the bevel.

Yeah I got this one on trade and its probably a burr. I'm nowhere near a good knife sharpener as I have very little practice but I'm working on it. Its a kershaw so the best route may be to just ship it to them and let them put the factory edge back on it. Just got a little extra $ and think I'm gonna buy a paper wheel.

@usmc what I mean is that the left feels sharper than the right. The burr explanation seems to be the most plausable.
