Sorry if this belongs in another category but I am new to this...Here's my question...
When was the first time blades were etched with slogans or makers marks? I see some supposedly original "WW II" German daggers with a Slogan etched in German on the blade. Is this too early for that embellishment? Would it have been engraved instead? When did manufacturers start dong this as opposed to engraving? And would an every day carry WWII dagger be so fancy?
