Between the 1595 and 1596. I don`t yet own either, just wondering if it can be done? Would everything match and lock-up or will there be problems?

Thought a black blade on the 1595 would look nice. And a BB blade on the new textured G10 1596 handle would be just as nice...

Thanks guys,
Dave

i thought there was a model that was speed/spec bump that had a BB blade on a G10 handle that wasn't 3D textured. look around and you might find some pics of what it looks like to get an idea. that being said, i don't know why it wouldn't work, but i have no idea so ill let the experts answer/

Yeah, I saw it on another thread here, thats what gave me the idea. I did a quick search and could not find one for sale anywhere. I think the blade was 154cm too.

hmm. didn't know the blade steel. yeah it was a limited run, speaking of, i should post that in the limited sprint run thread to see what numbers were produced.

Here's a thread with pics of pretty much all the bumps.

Post 3 has the SVBL. The one I have is one of the S30V mis-marked blades.

I don't know if there were actually any SVBLs with CPM 154 blades. The first Spec Bumps had the same grooved G-10 handles and Black DLC CPM 154 blades.

The 1st run of the Spec Bump is with the then newly minted CPM 154 , not the same beast as the 154cm. They changed over to CPM S30V because S30V cost lest and is much more corrosion resistant. The G10 has diagonal cutout grooves for traction as oppose to the starburst pattern of the latters. Thomas stated that they had an overun of the g10 handle scales and make the limited Speed Spec Bump. Sold out a long time ago. Priced just 10 buck more than the Spec Bump if my recollection is not off.

IT WORKS!

Everything matches up perfectly. I was never much of a fan of the black coated blades, but I liked the G10 handle, so switch-a-roo. It (the top one) is my new EDC/EDU.

I do miss out on having the nice S30V blade, but maybe I can talk Thomas into selling me a Non-coated S30V blade for it.;)

nice work. a definite winner. but good luck on getting any blades from kershaw. its kind of a strict policy only to sell or mail parts other than the blade.

But I had a dream about it the other night, and dreams due come true, RIGHT?;)

Actually I was quite aware of that, I can wait until they make a plain blade version, that may happen?

You could always remove the black coating and shiny-up the S30V blade. I really like hand rubbed finishes, (I did it to my speed bump).

serrated edge: Those came out lookin' real good!

firebert: How 'bout a pic of the hand polished blade?
