Hey guys, I recently got a NIB ZDP-189 Stretch in a trade. The blade finish on it isn't super consistent. There are these dark "spots" on the blade like it was a bad blade blank on it. It's probably just me being anal but for the price paid it just isn't doing it for me.

I'll get some pics up in a few!

Sounds like there may be some staining or patina on your blade.

I can post some photos of mine if you like, but basically it had a nice uniform finish that was a little shinier than most Spydercos I have tried.

I have a powder blue zdp-189 strech lightweight, and mine has the same spots.
It doesn't bother me though.

I'm not surprised. ZDP-189 is prone to that type of uneven patina. You can remove it with Flitz, Simichrome, or whatever metal polish you prefer.

Both the carbon fiber and FRN Stretch ZDP-189 folders that I received new had shadow blotches on the blades.

I removed the blotches with Flitz. They will come back, though.
