I was just thinking the other day, if the **** hit the fan, and the Apocalypse began, what knife would I want by my side while I was fighting the evil hordes. I think the three knives that I would use out of my collection would be my Cold Steel Recon Tanto, and a M7 bayonet that is now razor sharp and Ontario Survival Bowie. These just look the most battle worthy out of my collection, and seem to instill a feeling of confidence whenever I hold them. Just curious, which knife(or knives) would you pick out of your collection with which to do battle, and why?

Feeling creative on 4 hours of sleep...Chris

Let's see,...my new Hossom Millenium Machete...

.....and my Szabo/Reif RAD Folder (shown with my LCC/DA for size comparison)

I'd want my customized Coleman/Western W-49 Bowie knife, my Camillus Cuda CQB-1, and 2 of my REKAT Sifu. If I had enough room left, I'd also take my Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri.

...Can I bring-along a couple Glocks, and a Win 1200 shotgun, too?.:D.

It's odd, but I have only 2 hands. I'd rather curse my opponents than hold a knife in my teeth.

Guess of what I have now, I'd go with my E-Nep (from Santi in Thailand) and my trusty KaBAR USMC fighting knife. I carried one of the latter for 19 mos in Vietnam, and trusted it. Guess I'll rely on it in the "final days."

Of course, if I buy a custom fighter, then would have to change one of these.

Although I don't own one, I would seriously be hunting for a Himalayan Export Ang Khola should the big one arrive. Just wielding one of those confidently would make most enemies fill their britches and run away. Of course, strapped to my back would be a Bennelli Super 90 auto shotgun filled with 00. I would have a customized Ruger Redhawk snub nose .44 Mag attached to a lower leg carry.

My 710HSSR would ride patiently in my front pocket.

"Beep, Boop, Beep, Bap, Beep, Boop, Beeb"........

ring...... ring.... ring...

Him: Hello?

Me: Hello!

Him: Yes?

Me: Mr. Hossom, the crp has hit the fan: please send me anything you make!

Him: Send me soem Canadian beer, and you got a deal

Me:

:D

i would want my old '70s model gerber mark 11 and a BM AFCK for my folder, and maybe a leatherman tool to work on my guns......and my SIFU if i had enough room for 3 knives, would prob be better to have an extra glock or mag for my AKM vs another knife - 2 should do the trick imho...

sifu

I guess I would just have to make do with this pair. The Brend Model 1 for utility and the Model 5 just to scare the f**k out of people.

Regards,

Ed

ps If it is the end of the world anyway you may as well use the nice ones.... :D

Eric:

Pardon my ignorance, but how does that RAD folder work? There must be quite a lot of blade sticking out when folded. Though I guess there is no need for folding and conceiling it once the Apocalypse has started :)

Um, Darth Maul's Double Ended Lightsaber?

Seriously, with my current inventory; 2 Commanders, a CS SRK, and AK-47, Beretta 92FS Brigadier with 20 rd mags.

If it truly WAS Armageddon though, all that hardware would be useless.
Here's what I'd use:

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
Ephesians 6:10-17

Tough choice, as always when pondering this question. Since I have to go with what I have on hand right now,

Strider GB, DDR Echelon fighter, Crawford Perfigo.

Heck, I'm sure some of those Kershaw/Onion Chives would end up some where as well.

Eric, I just got a RAD as well. Are you having fun with yours yet? I'm not going to do much with mine until I get my right hand a little closer to 100% healed. RAD is a kick ass knife.

#1 KC Jian Sword 29" blade
#2 Randall Model 14
#3 MOD CQDA
Regards , Cameron .

P.S. That Hossom Melenium Machete sure looks sweet . Love that two handed finger grooved handle .

I could not have said it better myself! If I'm still here, it means I'm going to have a tough time of things, but I'd better get my relationship right.

One of my Busses or the CRK Project I or II would help me keep the fires lit so I could stay warm and have light to read the Word by.:)

Not because I'm afraid of the "END", but because I would HATE to have to choose!!
I think it's safe to say that one knife will not suffice so my choices in each dept. would be-

Long/Weapon- Hossom Gaijin Wakizashi
Heavy duty chopper- Cold Steel ATC w/ custom handle by Jay Maines
Mid-sized utility blade- BK&T Magnum Camp
Small utility-Camillus Talon
Folder- trusty BM710
Multitool-Leatherman Wave
(These are from what I currently own. I have a Hossom Bolo on the way that would probably replace either the ATC or the Magnum Camp.)

I have quite a few other blades that I would be torn between, also. As far as long/weapons I have a MMHW Shasqua and a MMHW Speed Stick Senior katana that I would trust in battle. Another good candidate is my 25" HI King Kobra Kukri. I also have 2 Blackwind swords by Ontario that I have put hardwood scales on myself that are very decent blades.
As far as choppers/large blades, I would also consider the Busse BM-E or the BK&T Brute.
The Cold Steel SRK and Recon Tanto are very nice dependable utility blades, also, and their Bush Ranger is a very good slicer due to the thin edge.
It makes me glad that we live in a world of so many high quality knives. I hope that day never happens because I'd be the guy that gets raided and killed and never even see the enemy coming because I was too busy mulling over which knives and tools to use!!!!

Peace-
Cam

If the s*** hits the fan, about the most valuable thing about our knives might be their for-trade value for food and fuel when yours runs out! Of course, we want to keep a few to ourselves. My own choice would be my Livesay RCM machete, with either a Dozier utility knife or large Sebenza as the "small knife".

Wise words from the Watchtower Brigadier!! I'd have my Ontario Jager short sword because of the carrying options. Through one arm over the shoulder. Attached to it is Camillus WWII Marine combat, kydex sheath. And strung to the Camillus sheath is a pouch carrying Leatherman Supertool with a DMT folding duo-hone and small man-made dual surface stone. Never know I just might survive a while! Good Lord Willing! May trade off WWII Marine Combat for a Becker Brute. Also a nice kydex sheath to attach pouch. May have to do some bashing as well as slashing! Oh Yeah! A S&W .38 revolver in to make some noise!
