I've been looking around BF lately and haven't seen a section for local memebers to talk. I've looked at Community Center but it seems like there are so many different topics in there that its not really focused per region per se.

I was wondering if you think it would be a good idea to maybe place a sub-reginoal sub-sections to the community center. Maybe for example, place a Pacific Northwest section, California, northeast, midwest etc.

This way, local memebers of the section have a specific place to post things about local events. Maybe a knife show that is going on, or a gun show, or maybe that they just want to get together to talk knives and have a BBQ. I have seen this work very well in other forums and I figured I would try to give the idea to help this forum out as well. If this has been brought up before, Im sorry for bringing it back up again.

If you wish to organize knife meets, BBQ's, and show listings you can do so in Community. Please be sure to not discuss knives just the function itself. If you get enough interest going I can sticky the thread to the top of the forum.

Hmm Thanks for the idea. I was just thinking that it would be easier to have specific sections that people can check so some post don't get lost and pushed back from other posts. Thanks again.

Start with one thread. If that gets a lot of posts maybe it could eventually end up as a separate forum, but the posts have to come first.

As long as your thread generates interest and people respond it will stay at the top of the forum just by the responses.

The real problem with a separate forum is that you will have too many people not realizing it's there or remembering to check in.

The advantage of having one big Community Center is that everyone will come here for one reason or another, and can see a specific regional thread when they do. Also, people may get an idea seeing someone else's city having a meeting and think to organize one of their own.

For example, I'm always willing to talk about how we got the New Jersey Knife Collectors Association up and running and how another group can do it, too.
