I'm wondering, do people carry theirs as EDC's? Do you have it saved away? Do you think it will ever be worth more than you bought it for?

When I bought mine I wanted to pick up an S30V bladed knife for EDC, to really see what all the hype was about, and it came around at the same time, so I figured "cool knife, reasonable price for S30V... perfect." Mine got stolen from my doorstep (I never saw it), I looked for a replacement... that sort of made it worth more to me. I found one last week and the forum member that I bough it from apparently took great care of it if he carried it at all (all the original pieces were perfect, original, factory edge..., it also came with a lowrider pocket clip, that and the flap on the original box were the only things that showed _any_ wear...), I started wondering if maybe this shouldn't be an EDC.

huh... I don have another standard skyline coming, but I'm not really sure that it affects my decision, it's a different color, different blade steel, slightly different blade design... that makes it a different knife in my rotation of knives...

So what do the rest of you think? FWIW, if it ends up and EDC then the first thing I'm going to do is put a new edge on it... it's sharp for a factory edge, but that still probably makes it the dullest knife I own (and honestly, the grind isn't that even... again, more even than most factory edges, but still...). I did get it sharper by swiping it over a strop a few times without significantly changing appearance, but it's still not _really_ sharp.

I put brown scales on it and use it. Happen to be carrying it today. Put an edge on it and use that thang!

Sadly I botched the drilling and tapping to make it LH-TU, so I'll probably cut out a new scale of some red/black G-10 or whatever wood/stag I have on hand and make a new left hand scale for it.

Well, I sharpened it... and been carrying it for most of the last week (well, I carried it before I sharpened it too), except for the day that the standard skyline came, I sharpened that and carried that for a day (actually, it's in my pocket right now too). Now I'm thinking about reprofiling the edge for a slightly narrower bevel- when I sharpened it I split the difference between the bevels on the 2 sides, one side was a little more than 20, the other a little less, so I went with 20), but I sharpened the standard skyline right around 15 (well, to be exact, after measuring it it looks like it was cut to 12.5* with a 16* microbevel) and like that better (of course it has a different blade profile, hollow ground vs full flat, so that might have a bit of an effect also). I the next step more acute I can go is 16*, I'm pretty sure that will be fine, but I"m wondering if I can do the same as I did with the standard skyline without making the ground edge look too big.

My go to bum-around-the-house knife. I stopped carrying G10 handled folders because they chew up my pant pockets too much so I pretty much exclusively carry titanium frame locks. But the Skyline is nice and light, I love the blue scales and the S30V flat ground blade is awesome so I throw it in my shorts pocket when I'm just at home.

I have carried it a few times but have forgotten about it lately with new purchases such as the Southard, Needs Work G10, and JYD Grey G10 to name a few. I might have to throw it back into rotation now as I does deserve some attention :)

I have one. It's THE skyline to have in my opinion. Flat ground, and s30v. All the others, except the damascus, are just color variants.
I like the Skyline. Definitely gonna keep mine. I'm not a huge fan of flippers though. It probably won't appreciate. They're not financial investment. They're tools, use them!
