Look, this site has some neat things...But I am a paying member, mainly to use the search function, just like many other users and it almost NEVER WORKS!

Whoever is in charge needs to either fix the problem or give everyone their money back.

I don't remember ever having a problem with search. For giggles, I just typed in "Hinderer" under advanced title search, and it worked swell.

It works, but it is tricky......try being as specific as possible, and you will have better results.

Don't blame the machine for your inability to operate it.:o

You can't put more than one word in the simple search box, or it fails, and you can't search for words that are too common to produce discrete hits. If you search for single terms that are relatively uncommon, the search function works just fine.

I too, am a paying member because I really enjoy the discussion, knowledge base, and people here. It's like a support group of people with the same addiction.

"Hi, my name is Jason and I'm addicted to well made knives"

I paid for the membership for a search feature too, and often have issues as well. the search times out and when I retry I get the annoying 60 second wait notice.

I have always had success with the search feature, but then I know how to use it.

You need to use advanced search most of the time, and narrow it down as much as possible.

You have to treat it like a woman. If you don't ask it in exactly the right manner, with perfect key words and timing, you get nothing. :D

Always use advanced search, and search for titles only, and in the specific forums that you think they are most likely to show up in. ;)

Believe me, I'm not happy with the state of the search engine either. I can say at this point that we're going to be seeing some behind the scenes work here shortly (several thousands of dollars worth) but whether or not that will help the search, I don't know.

imaginefj,

I either do exactly this in the aforementioned, use the advanced search option or use google. One of these options will always produce for me.

The bf.com search function will continue to be a challenge for Spark as time goes on. You are on the most popular and exclusive blade forum on the world wide web so its difficult to keep up with demand no matter how much money is thrown at the problem.
