Blade Geometry?

Hey guys, i need someone to give me a crash course on Blade geometry... ive been designing a few knives lately, and i dont know what i should do about the blade grind or blade width, thickness, etc. So, can someone fill me in on the basics? I just know the "general" aspects of blade geometry, like, if you have a very thick-bladed knife, then id assume that your grind should be pretty high on the blade in order for the knife to be a decent slicer or cutter. If it helps, im really into bushcrafting, and ive been trying to design a bush blade that is strong, and also a decent slicer. the blade hight is about 1/16 shorter than an inch, Havent thought about the blade thickness yet. 1/8th seems like a good medium for what i need.

I just would really like to know some stuff on blade geometry. so sharpening, purchasing, and making knives will be much easier.

Thanks!

A few thing that helped me are

1) look at The knives you have that are best at what you want to do and see what they have in common
2) look at the knives of respected makers that are desinged for the use you want
3) as a general rule long thin angles cut more effently but are fragile, short thick angles are less effectent but more durable
4) these are rules of thumb
5) you will also want to consider what steel you are using

You may want to look into the convex grind, this is based on personal choice but it will not hert you to check it out

Thanks, Dan! I love convex knives. the first convex i ever had was a Fiddleback Forge Bushcrafter with a Sabre grind, i couldnt believe how well it cut the wood! But i stupidly traded that Bushcrafter away a while back.. and since then, ive been trying to find the right convex knife. At the moment, im torn between the performance of a convex blade, and a FFG blade for bush work.
