While i was tinkering with a knife and attempting a crowned spine on a belt sander, the blade got too hot at the spine and there is a faint blue line. How bad is it in the location if im not planning on super hard use of the knife?

I guess it depends where on the spine. If it's at the tip, then it might be a problem, but if it's more than 1/8" from the edge I'm not sure I'd worry about it much. Depending on your definition of "not planning on super hard use" of course.

It seems to only show on one side and i wont be bushcrafting using it ad a prybar. Ill probably use it for food prep, cardboard etc

is it already heat treated? If so no problem

If it is heat treated and the color is on the spine, no big deal. Just sand it off

Its a tenacious i have. Its not on the spine but right below it on the side of the knife

Havi just realized i typed tenacious because i was fidgeting with it while i was typing. Its a Shaman. And i will

I would not worry about it. Rex45 is a high speed steel with lots of cobalt in it. This makes it vary tolerant of high heat

Nothing is wrong with that blade :)
Watch this .............to see color of steel in different temp .

Man yall just made me extremely happy. I was a little worried as im not a metalurgist so i wasnt sure the level of, if any, damaged was done

Temper for REX45 is 1000 F degrees.

You did not reach that temperature grinding
