Hello,
I have several Randall's that I've collected over the years but have wondered lately what grinds they use, in particular to the combat/tactical versions such as the Models 1, 14, 15, and 16. It appears that the hunting/skiining models have hollow grinds for the most part but looking at one of my 15's it appears a cross between a flat and a sort of hollow grind. Their (Randall) site doesn't really mention it. Any of you Randall experts have the answer? Thanks!

How about a picture? The blade grind does seem to change as it move toward the tip, they seem to flatten out a bit for tip strength no doubt.

Randall uses a hollow grind, thats it as far as i care to call it.

Yes, it's a hollow grind, because the shaping is all done on a wheel. Some specific blades appear to be flat-ground (like the Nordic Special Bowie), but these, too, are ground on a wheel, not on a flat surface. The craftsmen doing the grinding are so good they can get a near-flat shape.
