Blade grinding without ruining HT?

I was thinking that The ZT 300 series would be perfect (To me) if it had the one thing I really love about Strider folders, a finger choil, and if it wasn't a recurve. This is what I had in mind,(forgive the horrible MS paint lol) would this be possible, or would it destroy the heat treat?

As long as the knife blade doesn't get too hot, then it won't destroy the heat treat. After a bit of grinding, just feel the blade with your fingers. If it feels like it will burn you , or is close to burning you then you should probably let it cool. If you do that the heat treat would be pretty safe.

As I remember, if the steel's temperature doesn't get above the final temperature that the steel was tempered at, then the heat treat will be fine. Don't quote me on that though, wait and see if the steel gurus correct me on that.

Yep, a reliable guide is this: if you can hold it (the affected area- the edge) bare-handed, it's not hot enough to hurt the heat-treat.

This is what I did:

But it is not regrinding, may be reshaping - not too much heating involved. I make choil with Dremel easy.

Thanks, Vassili.
