Hello everyone.

 Love the Forums. The knowledge, the camaraderie, the photos.

Silently following these forums for some time, I'd like to begin posting by asking what type of equipment, or process do manufacturers/makers use to attain precise grinds on their blades?

Particularly such even, uniform edges. It seems that no matter the curve of the blade, the edge is always ground perfectly on both sides.

Are some form of jigs used, or simply talented, steady hands.

Everything has tolerances, there is no such thing as perfect. You will be sorely disappointed with more than knives if you expect perfect.

With that said, knife grinding is a skill and the best grinders can do it by eye.

And don't let grind lines bother you too much since you'll be needing to resharpen that edge sooner or later and change the geometry. How a knife cuts and holds the edge would matter more for me.

Anyone??

What type of equipment or process do manufacturers use to attain even grinds and edges on their blades?

Is it a secret. :D
