Just curious as to if anyone has gotten any CS knives with grinding that is a little off. I just got a green SR1 Tanto and on the right side the grind along the top as it goes toward the tip is a little bit off compared to the other side. It's the side with the clip on it. It goes nice and straight from the handle end toward the tip and then it goes up about a 16th more than the other.

It reminds me of a whoops a little to much movement on the grinder, actually it didn't come down as far as the other side. I'd take a pic if I could to show you all. It's not hurting the knife at all it's just as I was looking it over I noticed it. I also have the green SR1 in a clip point and its about perfect. I thought about sending it back but it's just a minor issue really, not hurting the knife in any way. I just wonder if others have run across this issue.

Pics would help ! :)

If I paid full MAP , I'd probably return with request to cherry pick the replacement .

It definitely lowers your resale / collectors value . But that's not much issue with user beater .

If it bothers you enough that you'll always tend to be aware of the flaw , that would detract from your enjoyment .

If I got it on the cheap for a beater , I'd feel fine about it . Otherwise ...nope !

A few years back on a Code 4, I liked the knife(perfect centering, easy lock work etc) so I sent it in and asked if they could sharpen it out. They did it for no charge and it was scary sharp and symmetrical. I guess their sharpening service is defunct??

Yes. It happened with a Drop Forged Boot Knife, one of the silver colored model #36MB. I had ordered several and while inspecting them noticed that one had been misground near the very bottom of the blade. It was very slight, only a fraction of an inch but it stood out because the same exact misgrind was present on all four corners at the same exact location. Being a double edged knife and sharpened on both sides it must have taken quite an effort for the person grinding this knife to duplicate the same flaw in such a symetrical fashion!

I kept the knife rather than send it back and intended to bring it to one of the parking lot sales and discuss this one of a kind knife with the man himself, Lynn C. Thompson, but time came and went and I never got around to it. And little did I know the October 2020 parking lot sale would be the last. I had thought about attending but due to Covid running rampant at the time decided not to. Isn't it strange how history and timing can change the course of our lives!

I'll try to get one today, maybe I can send you one.

It perfectly centered and working well, but there is also a little nick in the top edge of the blade as well. Other than those issues it's fine.

It looks like the prices have gone up as well since I purchased it, I may keep it I'll have to think on it because like mentioned if I ever decide to sell it I would take a hit. Thanks all.

Well it's going back, dealer said no problem. I mentioned that the next one be inspected, we shall see. It's the first one out of 8 that had issues and having one in 7 different models. Their good knives for sure just got one made on a monday. :D

I was pretty disappointed in my Immortal. I think it's bad enough that I would have to disclose this, if I was was to sell or trade. The other side looks normal.

Yeah , that's not good . But wouldn't bother me near as much a primary bevel asymmetry . Not on a user , anyway .

I could possibly fix an edge grind problem , although you shouldn't have to .

I can't personally do anything to correct a primary grind problem .

Yes that's a little off I'd say like mine was, hopefully the next one will be normal.

The grind on my Rajah 3’s spine is a little off, actually. I don’t really mind it though since it doesn’t affect the function.

That's the thing for 160 and now even more $$, I think there should be a little more quality control. It wouldn't have been that hard to fix the one I had at the factory before it left there. I paid less for my AD10 and it was just about perfect except for some sharp corners. I've been looking for a knife dealer that will look a knife over before it gets shipped. Do any of you folks have a dealer that does this before shipping for you if asked? Thanks,
