Looking at the bottom two knives. I know this is a MOFO and MOJO but I would love to know how this handle is identified in Busse terms. Looks like the perfect blade/handle combo for me.

Hope ResinGuy doesn't mind me using his pics. Thanks for posting them!

Interesting that this thread came up tonight... a couple hours ago I was fondling my avatar knife (Terror Monkey Natural Outlaw) which has a handle like the bottom knife in the picture.

I noted that its handle is longer than other Busse knives I have/had and that it has two pretty distinct hand positions on the handle. Sort of a "two handles in one" phenomenon. I find each hand position to be pretty comfortable for what I expect its intended use would be -- cutting with the choked-up forward position and chopping with the hand placed to the rear.

The forward position ends (for my rather small'ish hand) between the middle and rear rivets. The rear position places the swell on the top of the handle profile in the pocket of my palm and yields a lot more blade-heavy feel than the forward position (no surprise there).

I think it's "eeeuu" as in "You want to give it to me."

Or was that Eew?

Oh I dunno... I kinda like it. :p

Do wish it came with a 10 - 11" blade though. :D ;)

Hey.... that gives me an idea!!! :D

.

I like it, too. An improvement over the Ergo handle, which I find too broad. AFAIK, this handle was first introduced on the EU-17 back in Aug 2004.

This one become known as the standard EU-17, after the model line was later extended with the Mini- and the Magnum.

There was a Terror Monkey variant of the BM-E, and some of those had the EU handle

Thanks! You guys answered theta question and some. I thought it was EU but wasn't sure if I was just thinking of other knives.

So now I'm wondering what EU stands for and some other blades that have those handles. I have seen some Rippers show up lately. the handle also looks like a smaller version of what has been on some rats. ?

My thoughts also on the handle and blade of this one. This one kind of reminds me of the Ratweiler in handle and blade configuration.
Thanks for the pic guy. Sweet knife at any rate.

There has been a great deal of speculation as to what EU17 represents. All Jerry ever said was that the knife was a mil overrun.

The EU handles stand for "European" .... back in the day Busse had a European Distributor based in Germany and certain models were done specifically for that market .... I suppose in the same way Skunk has put in orders for the SAR design ....
so you had some very rare knives that had distinct handles and were done in small numbers.

One day I hope to go to the EWA gun show ( which is like your SHOT Show ) and bump into a guy who does'nt know he is selling a really rare EU model Busse .... cheaply ....:D

Yeah, this is a quote from the Introductory thread link above:

Well I'm guessing EU stands for European Union.

The 17th country to join the European Union was Poland.

I'm guessing these knives are a custom order for the Polish military for their boys serving in Iraq.

As good a guess as any.

you guys are good! thanks!

We need to crank up a "Busse Combat Trivia" thread.
