Hi,
I'm just curious what the tanto blade and drop-point blades were specifically designed for. I'm actually trying to figure out what kind of blade & edge would suit me best. My knife would be mostly used outdoors ...fishing, camping, hiking, etc. Can anyone recommend a good all-around blade/edge combo for general outdoor use?

Thanks in advance,
~Ray

Tanto blades aren't really good for anything except for tip strength and looks. I like drop points best for overall utility. Clip points are good for hunting/skinning knives. I also like sheepsfoot and modified sheepsfoot blades for utility. Most of the good outdoor fixed blades you will see have drop point or clip point blades.

Yea like BJE said for outdoor use the tanto isn't the best choice,Most of my fixed blades are drop points, with a few clip points mixed in.Either work well but drop points are my favorites.

By the way,welcome the BladeForums!
