Blade instruction in SE New England

Hi, I'm a long time martial artist but new to blade tactics. I'm looking for private instruction or small group instruction in SE New England (RI or SE Mass). Can anyone suggest a guru? I have a keen interest in Indonesian as well as Filipino arts.
 
Jm as AMOK! has been established in the NewEngland area for over a decade there are many tribes in that area of the country I would make the bet that there are more trained knifers in New England then any where in the united states right now. If you hook up with AMOK! you'll have no shortage of knife nuts to cross blades with. Randy

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it. Every hear of any Silat in SE New England? I'm working in Indonesia (home base is RI) and have become interested in the local indigenous arts. However, being in the oilfield areas as opposed to the more culturally sound areas limits my ability to find anyone serious in Silat. Most of what I have found is really watered down stuff that people send their kids to. As far as finding a more traditional guru, everyone seems to know one but no one will introduce me. Most of the Silat people that I have contacted in the States say that Kalimantan (where I'm located) is still very protective of their Silat styles with little to opportunities existing for foreigners to train traditionally. So, I may just have to try to find a guru in RI or New England and try to work my way through them back to a guru here in Indonesia. I'd appreciate any info you could pass my way.

May has familly that they travel reguarly to train with in indonesia and are AMOKS! resident experts in silat May was an insperational force in getting my wife nok involved in the blade.If you get a chance to hook up with them even once it will be worth your effort. Randy is right on the money here. Mike and May are wonderful. Mike is one of the most phenomenal martial artists you will ever meet. He and May travel regularly throughout Indonesia and train like crazy. I learned most of my hand traps from Mike and almost all of AMOK!'s lower work is directly from Mike.

I've emailed May Williams and she has given me some insight into finding a guru here in Indonesia. She even stated that she'd try to put me in touch with her personal guru, which is an honor considering that she has never met me. I would say thanks to both Randy and yourself for recommending the Williams' as they have been helpful and insightful even though they don't know me from Adam.

Hi Jay glad we could help and that you were able to contact Mike and May. If you are in the New England area you should make a point to train with Mike and May as I said before they are two of the most wonderful people you will ever get a chance to meet in this life time. IMHO AMOK! Randy
