Hello, guys,
Could you tell me what blade lengths and blade thickness did Basic Models have? Is Mod-INFI quite different from INFI? Could you advice also (if possible) how Mod-INFI differs from Swamp Rat's metals SR101 and D2?
Regards,

The Basics were all 1/4" thick and came in 3, 5, 7 and 9" blade lengths. There were several threads dealing with INFI/M-INFI but I can't pull them up. If you can do a search (I can't) you could pull them up, or perhaps someone will provide a link. Same with SR-101.

Adding to what Rob said, if you can get ahold of the German models, there are also 4 and 6 inch lengths...I have a Basic 6.

Here are just a few of the many threads available in search:

I particularly like Yvsa's comment in the last one: "INFI holds an edge forever, where as M-INFI only holds an edge forever." ;)

Thank you!
Could you tell me what is the weight of Basic 5, 7 and 9 knives?
Regards,

OmegaA,

Here are the weights:
B5 - 8 oz.
B7 - 11.5 oz.
B9 - 14 oz.

The Basics are great knives! M-INFI is very close to INFI in performance from what I have read; I doubt that I will ever be able to tell the difference in actual use. One advantage of M-INFI & INFI is they are virtually stainless, even though technically they are not classified as such. Don't hesitate to buy a Basic if you find one you like!

I think there was a thread somewhere along the line about actual blade lengths on Basics. Don't recall ever having measured the 3 or 5 I had.
My Basic 9 is 9 13/16", and Basic 4 is 4 11/16".

Basics 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9
4 and 6 were "Euro" offerings.
I've used a couple of knives in INFI, and several in M-INFI. I can't really tell a difference.
