Is there anywhere on the web where a person can find accurate information about Buck's blade marking / dating system.

IE < , > , dot, v , ETC.........?

Sure would come in handy. Need a chart.

Thanks,

The year date chart can be found at http://www.buckknives.com/cms/index.php?Category=22 which is part of Buck's Web Site, along with a ton of other information. Click on the link to go directly to the chart, or start at Buck's Main page, www.buckknives.com, click on the About Buck tab and be preparded for some learning....:D

The chart begins with when they started using year marks in 1986 with the "<" and has marks shown for up to 2006. Keep in mind that last year the factory changed the year mark to an "anvil" to commemorate the 100 year anniversary, so the mark shown on the chart for 2002 is wrong.

The "dot" system was used before they used year marks. The single dot was first used in 1964/1965 - the two dot showed up in 1974 - three dots in 1980 and four dots in 1981. My info here may be off a little and I welcome any of the others to correct me if I am.

Hope this helps....

BTW...

WECLOME TO THE FORUMS !!!!

We hope to see you here more often as this is one of, if not THE best place to gather info, increase your knowledge, ask any question, and share your love of BUCKS with others who feel the same way.

How many companies do you know of where the PRESIDENT actually talks and shares info with the customers? Where the Director of Consumer Relations gets personally involved in problems or where the Quality Supervisor gets picked on relentlessly (sorry Jeff - couldn't resisit!!! :D ). You'll find all that, and more, here!!!

Dan,

Thanks for the warm welcome, info AND the invitation. I plan on visiting the forum more often. Seems like a great place to learn, offer feedback, gripes, etc....

Interesting observation about the company attitude and interaction...don't know of any other that participates in such a nice way and maintains a sense of humor.

Thanks again,
Dan L.
