Considering a new 3" slicer but it has USA 20CV on one side of the blade and a Hinderer small horse head image on the other side. Is that an indication of an older generation or something to be concerned about. Most I have seen are unmarked. This would be my first Hinderer. Thanks.

Not old, but new.

The markings are just recently appearing on production blades. Customs get an autograph.

Been popping up since just after the Vegas Gathering with a couple "prototype" style knives sporting the markings before "release".

I've got a new stone washed XM18 3" non-flipper slicer grind in the mail as I speak, with the logo on the G10 side & blade steel on the lock side. It appears from the photos I've seen that this logo reflects light differently depending on the viewing angle. (ex: dark or shiny metalic in appearance.) I think I'll approve. Nice to see little mods like that to indicate a phase in production.
Can anyone tell us what that screening process is & how durable it will be? Thanks.
B.

And durability will be a question not soon answered as its a new feature. I'd imagine it "holds up" very well.

And keep in mind...just as scars can make a person seem more interesting, marks and obvious wear on knives and gear can give a hint to their story as well.

Need 2 know,

I like your philosophy that scars make a person or knife more interesting. Too bad I have to take off my shirt to become "the most interesting man in the world" :)

My new 3" Hinderer is in the mail, too. It is taking forever....must be Christmas mail slowdown. These waits for knives are killing me - psychic scars that I hope add interest to my otherwise boring brain.

Don't forget to put a photo of your new knife into the picture thread once it arrives.

I'll wait till my paid status goes through. It will be easier to post pics, and my knife should arrive by then. I'm posting my pics on my desktop and was hoping to drag and drop them to a post, but I don't think that is an option.

You're already a Platinum.

Only photos posted plainly for all to see without logging in are my style. I understand why some like to do sales requiring members to log in and see photos, but it's a bother I'm not fond of in threads.

If people really want questions answered or education discussions, why complicate things with tiny thumbnails and other incumbered images?

All that said. I use photobucket. Copy and paste the

And the XM-18 was her gift. I told her when I died I wanted to be buried with my knives. She said I was crazy: she said when I croaked she was selling my knives on ebay to buy more purses.

No matter how awesome material things might be, there's no need for them once one passes...that's why grave robbers exist and the drama of unplanned estates plays out...

I hope she cares more about the items than to sell them off for more purses. Perhaps she will recognize the value you see in them beyond dollars and see they stay with her or pass on to those who will appreciate them.

Likely.

As no person I know of ever is serious about talks related to death. It's often just jokes.

Talks specific to material items.

This thread is slipping...

Uhm, blade makings? Yes, they are on the new ones and I hope both with and without markings are offered in the future.

I like your wife! Except that I'd go through your knife collection before I sold it, and keep the Hinderers! :p :D
