I know it's on a sticky somewhere, but I cannot find it…. Can someone please review for me what the tang markings "S", "V", and no markings represent,as far as blade steel? Or any other markings ?Thanks, Bart

Thanks , flyingjon, couldn't find it or remember…. CRS!!!! or Oldtimers…… Bart

I think it's in the CRK TIMELINE, but S stands for S30v and V for S35vn.

I think no marking is BG-42. I think that's what Anne told me at BLADE. I was asking if she could tell me which steel my small classic had. She said when I took it apart it would have either a S or no marking and that would tell me wither BG-42 (no marking) or S30VN (S).

I don't think there's marking on the ATS34 either. You'd have to follow the timeline to see when it was switched

I've got a large Tanto Sebbie blade, no markings,,,, Pretty sure ATS 34 was before Tanto, so guess it's BG 42,, Thanks, Guys…...

I just have the blade, I bought it years ago to try in a reg, and it worked fine. I have a set of 21 handles, so I'm going to send it in to have the blade fitted, as I have no pivot, and do not think CRK will send just a pivot out.... also do not have washers, and will dedicate the blade to the scales, so factory fitting should provide peace of mind..... And "D" is for Damascus! I just had one of mine apart this evening and noticed that there was a D stamped in there. I would presume that's what it means anyway....

I never knew they had markings on the blade. I had my Zaan apart the other day and didn't notice it. Where exactly do they put it?

It's on the "presentation side" so to speak of the blade. It's right above the pivot and is under the washer. You have to remove the washer to see it.
