Blade modification with only a Dremel tool and a coarse diamond stone? Good or not?

I have a Tanto blade which if I don't trade it I will eventually want to modify it. Can't send it out to be done, but only have a Dremel tool and a coarse diamond stone to work with. What I want to do is to get the Cold Steel Recon Tanto to look more like my CRKT M16 type of Tanto.
I have a included a pic of both for comparison. What do you think? Bad idea, or can it be done? I have very little experience in blade mods

Don't see not. I've done the same on a couple of knives to reprofile the blade and to smooth out irregular grind marks. Just go slow and don't overheat the steel.

Personally...I would send it to Richard J and let him work his magic on it. I sent him a Boker AFD in S60 that the original owner tried to convert to double edge with what looked like a brick or paving stone as a sanding block and what I received back is a double-edged work of art that will shave your face.

Both ideas sound good. I had promised myself to do the work myself though. If I don't trade it in the next few days will do something with it. I will post pics if I do.

Sounds good. Just make sure to dip the blade in water every few seconds to not ruin your heat treat on the edge. If it sizzles when you dunk it you grinded too long.

Thanks for the input. I had no idea I would heat so fast.

Just go slow and try to make sure you are keeping things cool and it should go well. Try it and maybe you will find a new hobby to go with collecting and using knives , mods can make a good knife great.
