Purchased a new benchmade 484 nakamura a few weeks ago and the blade is noticeably off center, not rubbing the scales but darn close. Was gonna just leave it, but it is really bugging me that i paid this much for a folder and the blade is off center. Have seen a few mention to loosen the frame screws and pressure the blade to one side to get it back to center, could anybody please explain this trick more clearly? Figured i would try to center it myself before sending it in to benchmade

I would send it back and have them fix it, as taking apart your Benchmade voids your warranty. For the cost, the blade should be centered. However, if you want to fix it here are the steps:

-Loosen the screws, but do not take them out
-Push the blade over in the direction you want it to move and pin it in place with velvet or something else that won't scratch.
-Tighten the screws back up, and take out the wedge.
The blade will be over more towards centered, you might have to do it again because in my experience the blade will creep back over

Hope this helps! If it works let us know and take before and after pics

1- Loosen all the handle screws (don't remove them, just loosen them)
2- Loosen the Pivot screw, again don't remove it
3- Get a small piece of paper and fold it a couple times. Wedge it in between the blade and handle until the blade is centered.
4- Tighten the pivot screw all the way.
5- tighten handle screws from the furthest away the pivot, alternating sides if needed.
6- Remove the paper, and slowly loosen the pivot screw just enough so that the blade can be flipped open

I think I would call Benchmade and ask them about sending it in to them to correct. I have tinkered with centering cheaper knives, that I bought used, but I wouldn't expect to do it on a new knife in that price range.

Sorry, forgot the pics, but worked like a charm (hopefully it stays centered though). Had to try it about 4 times until I got it where I wanted and pin the blade all the way against the opposite edge before tightening the screws back up, but seems to have worked beautifully, thanks so much
