Does WD-40 work as a good blade protector from rust? I heard RustFree from AG Russell works well- are there others? Thanks knife-folks.

Wd 40 will work, but it needs to be re-applied frequently.
Heavier oils are better for rust prevention.

I like mineral oil. Be careful of any colored oil on handles such as white bone, the color in the oil will darken the bone. Mineral oil is clear.

I have used several and like Tuff Glide. The have this in a cloth Impregnated with Tuff Glide goes on dry and does not attract dust and lint.THis a good rust preventive can tell you from years of trying different oils that WD40 holds the dust and lint like a magnet. That is why I prefer dry lubes. I like Ballistol but it is a wet Lube and rust preventive and lint clings to it. I really think I might be leaning toward Tuff Glide as a rust preventive and a lube and Mil-Tec as a lube but is not a rust preventive. Hopes this helps.
