Please excuse my stupdity when it comes to Busse. I was wondering, since Scrapyard uses old Busse and Swamp Rat parts, if the blade on it was off a SHBM? If you could help me on this it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

No, it's very similiarly shaped, but it's made from s7 steel. At least I think - don't have one, but that's what I remember anyway...

Oh, well thanks a lot, I probably will still get one even thought it is not Infi.:(

since Scrapyard uses old Busse and Swamp Rat parts.

To my knowledge they do not use "old parts". Knives or knife designs may look the same, but underneath the appearances are completely different knives. For example, most of the Scrap blades are S7. Most of the Busse blades are INFI, or possibly A2. So without noting all of the differences, suffice it to say that Scrap and Busse are different knives made with different materials, different specs (possibly including tolerances), etc. No part of any SHBM itself is being used to make any part of a Scrapyard knife.

Hope this helps and welcome to the addiction.

Thanks, now I understand, I just got mislead by the Scrapper 4 with the Bandicoot blade, and the Dumpster Mutt with the Basic's Res-c Handles.

It may be the wrong forum but:

Here's the INFI Street Scrapper 4

From my photo archives. I knew I was saving them for some reason.

Is there a difference between S7 and SR-77? Because all of the SYKCO blades are made of proprietary SR-77 except the SS4.

call it what you want but.........

Over the past 20 years he has longed to return to his first love of making knives. And for nearly 25 years, scrap piles of unused steel and handle material have been building up in the Busse knife shop. Dan is a firm believer in the “waste not, want not” school of thought and it is this belief and desire that has coursed him back into what is now known as The Scrap Yard Knife Company.
Through months of ”dumpster diving” and warehouse digging at the Busse Knife compound, Dan and I have secured literally tons of the finest tool steels available and other supplies that will allow us to bring a line of high performance American made blades to the market place at very affordable prices.

I believe the implication was unused steel stock from back when Jerry was experimenting rather than extra blade blanks.

Hmmm...slightly OT, but I wonder if the "secret sauce" in SR-77 is that it's bainitic? You can get bainite out of S7 and that would explain its extraordinary toughness.

My understanding is that the early Ranger RD-9's were the same scenario. Good buy too for those of you drooling over BM's that can't spare the cash for them
