I'm a sometime subscriber to BLADE magazine ( which I have this love/hate relationship with ) I DO
like Judge Lowell Bray's column & the feature(s) they do on "controversial" subjects ( of late was a "serialized" series on "Federal Switchblade Laws" that made some good point(s) (pun intended;))
How about the rest of you forumite(s)? What knife "rags" do you read & WHY?

AET ;) ( the usual suspect ;))

I buy Blade and Tactical Knives. Read them both cover to cover the same day I buy them. No wonder I am on here 10 hours a day. :D

No thanks to pucking Chapters/Indigo/Coles, I couldn't get Knives Illustrated.

For some reason I have never subscribed to Blade magazine. I think it is the anticipation of a trip to Borders each month, quickly walking to the rags, and checking for my favorite mag. We pick up the copy of Blade and, after my dad reads it all in one sitting, I leisurely read it over a period of three days. Savoring each article, and usually drooling at each picture; yes, I know I have issues. I can never seem to find and Tactical Knives or Tactical Folders, both good rags also. If there are anymore out there please let me know. I love to read about my favorite subject.

I subscribe to Blade and the new Knifeforums.com mag. Blade's not bad; I don't always trust the reviews as much as I trust feedback I get here, since most forumites aren't getting advertising money from the company or individual whose knife they are reviewing, but it's a good source of info. none the less. I like the Knifeforums one too, it's premier issue had some very interesting articles that I really enjoyed. I get Knives Illustrated when I can find it in the PX, but I don't like it quite as much as Blade. You'd think that with a name like Knives Illustrated they would have more color photos! After all, half of the fun is looking at all of the pretty pictures (then blowing half your paycheck).

I read them all and have subscriptions to Blade, Tactical Knives, and Knifeforums. I prefer Tactical Knives. Blade usually has pictures of new knives before they appear anywhere else and usually a good article or two. Knifeforums has the most honest reviews since they haven't been overwhelmed with advertizing yet.

I don't trust reviews in any of the other magazines. Like all the gun magazines, knife mags would rather ignore a bad item rather than review it.

For reviews and detail information I come to Blade Forum.

forumite(s) :

I LIKE Judge Bray's in depth look into how the current knife legislation compares with the Constituitional issue(s) raised here by forumite(s); he give's coverage of decision(s) from the various States in Our blessed Union ( for better or worse ) and add's his own 2 cents on the matter at hand. If a decision was definitely in the wrong
he'll be the first to raise Hell about it. I'm sure the honorable
(retired) Judge Potter L. Stewart;)
would concur with Judge Bray. Americans should be able to own knives & be left alone by the "law"
(unless murder was te issue at hand,
that is, by knife (DOES happen)
If any of you get BLADE, or chance to get a copy, read his column :"Your knife rights" ; it's quite refreshing, I assure you, forumite(s).

I've read Blade, Knives Illustrated(?) and Tactical Knives. I seem to gravitate toward TK so I suscribe to it. The other one I have gotten for a long time is Knife World.

I've subscribed to Blade since 1983 when I first found out about it. Back then they only came out 3/4 times a year. Subscribed to Tactical Knives and Knives Illustrated when they first came out. My favorite is Knives, a Japanese magazine, that always seems to have killer photos. Recently, with the advent of the internet, I only buy issues that have articles that interest me.

When I first got into knives I hung around the PX everyday waiting till the new issues came in. I read them until I figured out that, like gun magazines, they are cover to cover advertising. Even the articles are thinly veiled ads. They were a good way to get to know the basics and become familiar with the territory but now I look for more sincere reporting, like what I see here from you folks.

I read them all, Blade, Knives Illustrated, Tactical Knives, Knife World, and any Special Issues that come from any of the other hunting mags.

My favorite is TK, I wish they would come out in a monthly format, next is Knife World, kinda like a Newspaper format, it's great for Bernard Levines Whut iz it section, identifying old and unusual knives, and than the rest.

I read them all with a grain of salt, the mags need money to print, and that comes from the advertisers, and who advertises? The knife Mnfgs., do you think they want to piss off their bread and butter?

Than again what do I know, I read the World Weekly News:barf:

I subscibe to Tactical Knives, but I treat it like porn. I just drool over the pictures, and finally read the articles after the pages are tattered. :D

I had subscriptions to both Blade and Tactical Knives, until the subscriptions (recently) expired (and right now I'm too "economically challenged" to afford to re-subscribe). When I am able to re-up my subscription, it will be for the Tactical Knives magazine again, as it has the type of articles and features that I like. I find that TK is geared more towards the knife-user, where Blade is more for the knife/custom collector.

I used to buy Tactical Knives on a regular basis because of the training articles, which directly related to enhancing my martial arts. I occassionally pick up one at the newstand to flip through. It's a fun mag. :D

I don't subscribe to any of the knife magazines myself. First off, I don't really have the time to read them. I recieved better information, advice, and pictures here at Bladeforums. I also belong to a couple of other manufacturuer forums, but most of my information I get here. Bladeforums allows me to get information quicker than magazines can, besides I can contact company representives. Think about it this way, if you have a question about Sog knives, you can meet Ron from Sog here! Will Fennel answers questions about Cammillus products, to just name two people. How great is that? We have the likes of Kit Carson, Darrel Ralph, Tom Mayo, Jerry Hossom, to just name a few. I know there are many other great knifemakes that frequent Baldeforums, these are the ones that popped into my head, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Why would I want to read a magazine when a great place as Bladeforums exists?

Will Fennel roams these forums? Do you have any idea where I can get ahold of him? I've left a couple of messages on his voicemail, but he hasn't called back.

I get 'em all.., but I only buy Knives Illustrated for the pictures.., spectacular photography in many issues.

I read Blade, Knife World and KnifeForums the Magazine regularly and Knives Illustrated occasionally. Flip through Tactical Knives at the news stand, but that is about it. As far as I am concerned, Knife World is the best, followed by Blade. KnifeForums the Magazine is getting better with every issue.

I buy all of the Big Three. I read Blade because I love the columns by Ed Fowler and Judge Lowell Bray. Some of the articles are interesting and the pics are serious eye candy to me. Knives Illustrated is mostly eye candy but now and then they have a "how-to" that proves useful. Tactical Knives is my favorite because they are not afraid to publish self defense "how-to's" on occasion and they cover the type of knives I'm most intersted in.
I basically read all three from cover to cover but take reviews for the advertisements that they are.
