Blade pivot protruding bevel on PM2 - cause of sticky blade?

The PM2 is second hand. I could never get the pivot screws tight enough to my liking and still have the blade pivot function smoothly. I took it apart to find out why. On one side the hole for the pivot bushing is clean, as it should be. On the otherside of the hole it appears it wasn't machines correctly and there is a protruding bevel. I believe this bevel is pinching the washer when I snug up the pivot screws causing the blade to be stiff (and I really mean "just snug", I am not tightening them down)

It seems to be well inside the hole, away from where the washer would be.
I would also expect some wear on that spot if a washer was rubbing against it.

I don't think it's causing your problem. Maybe grab a micrometer and measure to see if the stepped pivot bushing is too wide?

That shouldn't interfere with the washers. Don't forget that the screws just under the pivot affect blade play and how smooth it opens and closes.

Unless, is something sticking up? It's hard to tell from the picture. If so all you would need to do is sand it down.

Yes, I realize that in the picture it appears that the bevel is concave and going down into the hole but the bevel actually sticks up from the surface of the blade (blade flat? ricasso?) and the washer is pressed directly against this bevel.

if you have a dremel tool, cut a q-tip in half and (odd yes) put some flitz or other metal polish and polish where the pivot sits, it should take down the wire burr. I've done this to many a knife and not only should it take off the burr but it will make it open much smoother. I think a drill is a bit of an overkill.

Mr Anderson that is what I do! Works great, low speed when you start unless you want polish on your walls. Another thing I've done is filled the pivot area with polish and flicked it a bunch, made a Chinese Gerber one of the smoothest knives I own with this combo.

You should try polishing your washers(if they are bronze). I have some 8000 grit polishing paper and just dab a bit of flitz in it and use my index finger to move it back and forth.
