i got a little bit of side to side bade play by some of my 110's.
how can i help this?
i don't use them hard or something,so i don't really know why there's blade play already.
unlike more *modern* folders, there's no screws i can tighten.
so what can i do?

greetings,

wout

Hello Wout,
A small amount of blade play on a 110 is normal. If your knives have a significant amount of wobble though, you should send them back to Buck for repairs under warranty.
If you check the Buck web site, they give instructions on how to send them in.
I hope this helps.

ok,glad to hear that a small amount is normal.its not much, but yeah i can move the blade a bit.
the problem is,none of my 110's has a warranty :P
i bought them all second hand, but in new condition.
but if it's get worse,is there something you can do yourself?

Joe's recommendation is best, send it back to Buck. However, I've been known to slip a piece of leather in a vice and apply pressure to the front bolster to eliminate blade play, but if too much pressure is applied, you could end up with a 110 that won't open or a blade pin raised out of the bolster.....Buck seems to know what's best, they'll take care of you.

 ...Actually slammin' it with a dainty little hammer like I showed earlier will probably do considerable damage to an otherwise nice knife...Be gentle like Scott mentioned or better yet...Let Buck tighten 'er up...

Just FYI, you don't need the little warranty paper that comes with the knife, or a receipt, to have Buck do warranty work for you. The warranty also transfers with the knife, not just the original owner like some companies.

I have very minimal (almost not noticeable) play on two 110s with the nickel silver. All my brass versions lock up like tanks. This is no accident. I recall Joe Houser posting that the tolerances on the two materials are slightly different. I'm not bothered though. Like any slipjoint over time, a often used 110 is going to develop a tiny bit of play anyway. Just use it and enjoy. It's not going to fall apart.
