Blade play issue

I am a newbie and I am sorry if this isn't the correct forum to post problems.
I purchased a Smith and Wesson M&P M.A.G.I.C assisted opener yesterday and noticed a problem with it. I have purchased a few other S&W blades and I have been happy with their quality for a decent price, this knife, however, seems to have a major problem with blade centering and side-play.

The knife is the MP5 model. When i first opened it i was surprised with the ease of use, even for an a./o. The second time I opened it i noticed a cosmetic scratch on the black finish of the blade. after few more openings the scratch was through the finish. i took a look at it and Noticed the blade is off-center when closed and scrapes against the handle when opening. The blade-play is not bad but is significant enough to push the blade into a centered position. When open, the blade is is centered but play is still a minor issue.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and fixed it and how so. It's not a big deal now but if this starts to cause unnecessary wear I plan on sending it into Taylor/SW for repair. Does anyone have experience with their warranty policy, would this be covered?

If the knife has pin construction there is nothing you can do but try to send it in. If it has screws, diligent adjustment of the pivot should correct the problem. S&W knives are not of the highest quality, and are mostly frowned upon around these parts. If you are interested in a knife hobby stick around and learn what a high quality knife is. There are many high value offerings that are still quality, Spyderco Tenacious comes to mind. Be careful though stick around to long and a sub $50 knife wont cut it anymore. Good Luck.
