Blade play on a Mach 1 and Lock-Tite

I just bought an Emerson Mach1 (yr2000). It had quite a bit of blade play, so I tightened the pivot screw. I finally got it right where there's no blade play and its not too tight, but it keeps on working loose. Any recommendations of type of lock tite or similar products to keep the screw from working loose?

if I am not wrong, many people have suggested using the blue loctite..

Yep, give the Loctite a go. Seems to have worked well for those that have used it.

Fooman, all it takes is one drop of blue Loc-tite to totally cover the pivot screw threads. Immediately adjust the pivot to your liking, and then let the knife alone for 12 hours so that the Loc-tite completely sets. Do this and I seriously doubt that your pivot screw will ever work itself loose again. I had to do this to my Commanders ONCE and never again since.

Thanks all. I'll have to swing by the hardware store and get some blue loctite this week

Why doesn't Emerson design a pivot screw that doesn't come loose? May be they should package Loctite in the knife box with each knife.

Just checking...once you have applied the loc-tite and it has set, if you need to readjust will you have to apply more loc-tite?
Thanks

It my understand that you only need to apply it once. Then adjust the pivot screw to you liking. Leave it to set approx. 12 hours

If you readjust after it has set, you would need to do the process again cos by adjusting after it has set you basically shear the Loctite composite

Apparently Loctite 243 or Loctite 242 does the job

Hope that helps

rogue_spear: because ernie designed the knives to be taken apart, if necessary.
