blade play on SS spyderco

Lock backs, over time, will develop some slight vertical blade play (that is, toward the lock then toward closing the knife).

If it is lateral play you can every so lightly tap it with a rubber or rawhide mallet to tighten it up. Start with VERY light taps and work your way up. You can pry it back open if you go to far, but that's harder than tightening it up.

Good luck.

On a SS Spyder? Never. FRN or G-10 Spyders I sometimes I have a little vertical play, but SS Spyders usually lock up solidly.

I have in use 2 SS Delica with no vertikal bladeplay, earlier I had a SS Rookie , Harpy and Co Pilot, also no bladeplay.

What ist hard work for you ? To cut down a tree ? :D You can use a Kiwi for hard whittling even if it is small - I had one before, but with bone scales.
By the way, my linerlocks Spydies (Wegner, Centofante C25, Starmate, Howard Viele) didn't have any blade-play. The C25 is still one of my really used EDCs - no blade-play neither vertikal nor horizontal.
