Hey Bladeforum!

I own a ZT 0200 with just enough side-to-side blade play to drive someone like me nuts. Tried simply tightening the pivot - that bad boy will not move. Any suggestions?

Is it lock rock (vertical blade play) or side-to-side (horizontal blade play)?

You gotta take it apart and see how you can help it. If you wanna do this yourself that is. See if lock face is damaged or is this a washer problem. Perhaps clean it and put it back together and see where you at again. Maybe, if you have caliper, there are some thicker washers out there you can try that are ever so slightly thicker. Maybe you can take off some metal from internals. Very small amounts at a time. I haven't held this model so no idea what it even looks like inside. Nobody answering you so these are my two cents. If you feel confident about this kind of thing then go for it. There might be a service out there that offers work done for this outside of just talking to zt about it first.

Mine came perfect out the box. Except for the pivot nut being really tightened or loctited bad. I used a socket and ratchet to undue it. Take it apart and clean it all up. Re assemble and see if it helps. Usually side to side play is due to the pivot.
Check the thumb studs to make sure both sides are making contact with the frame as I believe there used for blade stops.

Thanks, guys.

I took it apart with a socket and ratchet, and I was surprised to see damage to the lock face from the lock bar: a number of scratches. I was planning on sending it back to ZT for repair, but I wound up selling it to a coworker who didn't mind the blade play.

Why would there be damage to the lock face? Is the steel in the lock bar harder than the blade steel?
