Blade play?

I have a small regular Sebenza. I have used it for a year now for light EDC tasks. Recently I discovered that when the blade is opened half way and I pull the blade it feels like there is a little play. Is that normal or is the pivot worn? There is no play what so ever when the knife I fully open.

Just checked my small reg and it seems to do the same.

I can hardly tell though unless I'm really paying attention to it.

hmm, I just tried it on mine and it seems fine.

You might try disassembly and cleaning. Is the pivot tight?

Do as Dave H suggest and make sure that you get the washers on correctly when you reassemble it. Sebenza's just do not have blade play!! :D :D :D

in the half-opened position. The lock bar jams the already-tight tolerances even tighter together. The combo of the lock bar's pressure against the tang ramp, the stop pin against the back of the blade tang, and all conceivable "slop" around the pivot bushing being absorbed in the process make for movement-free lockup in the open position. This slop-mopping is what makes framelocks more appealing to me, personally, than any other locking mech on the market today.

There is, however, minimal lateral and up-and-down blade-play in any unlocked position, as, after all, the blade has to be free to move.

Professor.

I agree with the Professor. I have had three now and all had that. I have carried a large flat grind ever since they come out and used it hard and it has not gotten any worse that I can tell. Not to worry! ;)
