judst got a spyderco native that has a little ....just a hair....of vertical blade play...is that anything much to be concerned with...it doesnt really interfere with the operation of the knife...just an annoyance because im too picky...is that just kind of normal every now and then ...cmon you guys make me feel better about it.

Personally I don't like any blade play and wont buy a knife if there is any. That's me, everybody is different.

how do you tighten a spydie larry

I have never owned one but I'm sure there must be a way to do it. Why don't you ask that question and maybe put up a picture of your knife on the Spydie forum. I'm sure someone will be able to advise you how to do it.

Blade play is unacceptable. I'd take the knife back and get another one and if that one had blade play, I'd buy another knife altogether.

Vertical bladeplay isn't uncommon in lockback knives like Spydercos. So far it's about a 50/50 shot with my Spydercos that there's bladeplay or it's solid. It doesn't really impede function, and it's no less secure, so I don't really mind. I might mind more on a more expensive model like a Manix or Police, but not with a $50 FRN model.

The only thing I can think of would be to handle the knife yourself before buying it, or ask the dealer to check it for you.

I've also found that even when a Spyderco FRN model doesn't have bladeplay, it can easily develope it with one aggressive cut. It gets on my nerves, but there isn't really anything I can do about it.

all the spydies I've had have that tiny bit of vertical if you really try to wiggle it - it comes with the light weight FRN flex. For some reason it's not an un-acceptable, (and Im a stickler about bladeplay) Its not blade-slop, or bad design, it just that there is flex in that lightweight FRN. To get rid of it you'd get a heavier knife.

thanks yall...i feel much better about it now... like i said its just a litttle hair sized click...guess ill check a little closer now
