have a question regarding one of those cold steel hatamoto 'customs'.

first of all.. i bought it less than a year ago and so i know that the warranty is still in affect.

the thing is... is that when i got it there was no blade play whatsoever

now there is quite alot from side to side and up and down. i have read on blade forums that some people experienced this problem but some didnt.

the up and down ceases when i over tighten the pivot screw but makes the blade very hard to open but anyway.. the side to side doesnt stop.

i paid £250 for it from heinnie in the uk as i live in wales(uk) and i feel that for the money, blade play like that is unacceptable.

heinne have taken stuff back from me before and are good to deal with so i dont want to upset them if i am out of order on this.

do you guys think that blade play in the first year would cause for a refund or credit to the same amount?

to be honest £250 is alot of money for what it is.thie thing is i could have bought 4 other knives for the same amount which all would be top quality.

what do you think? would you contact heinne for a refund etc thanks

I would definitely check with them and see if they will replace or repair, otherwise you may be able to send it to Cold Steel to be fixed. Unless you subjected it to abuse the blade should be rock solid for as long as you use it, after all CS are always talking about their perfect locking mechanism and how tough their blades are. Make 'em put up or shut up.

I phoned heinnie and the guy i spoke to said that he thought that it was probably cold steels thing to deal with. they dont deal with cs directly so the said that they would have to send it to thyre distributor who would then have to send it to cs themselves to see if it could be repaired!! this he said, would take a good few months even if it was repaired or replaced. i spoke to cs who thought that it was the supplier in the uks job to replace it but that heinnie would then be able to send it to cs who would replace it with them. but if it were replaced it would probably take a year to get a replacement as the stocks were so low and the backorders huge.

do you think that heinnie should refund, replace or give me store credit.or do you think that its for me to send it to cs. i have only had it about 2-3 months.... if that!

I have stopped buying Cold Steel knives... too many problems with them & I don't need the headache! I would ask for credit & buy somthing else!
