My sebenza seems to have developed some blade play- about 0.25 mm either way- barely noticeable, but noticeable nonetheless.

is this just a part of it wearing out :( it's not that old- born on the 21st december 2005) or is it something CRK will be able to sort out?

I don't know if you can wear one out that soon.
Did you take it down recently by chance?.....and by accident got a washer out of place? If so, take it down again.

I would not expect this from wear. Some questions:
1) Are you confident that this knife has all original parts, unaltered, from the factory?
2) Are you confident that the pivot screw is finger tight with the hex wrench?

The answer to your question is, yes -- CRK would have no problems discovering and fixing the issue.

yes to both of those questions- and i know that the knife is correctly put together- i've done it twice now!

i've emailed CRK, we'll see what happens, they've been very helpful for me before
 
Blade play should not occur at any time, even if the knife has had significant use. If the problem isn't something obvious (like the pivot screw needs tightening), you should send it back to CRK for a fix - up.
